Last month, Miguel returned to the music world with his new single “Sky Walker,” a fun collaboration with Travis Scott. Now, the R&B star continues that momentum with the new single “Shockandawe,” a song produced by Flippa, Warren Felder & Andrew Wansel (the latter two are better known as Pop & Oak). This one’s a departure from the usual sexy fare, even to the point where Miguel is speaking to the world issues we’re seeing right now:
I run, I write, I rock [Iraq]
I ran [Iran] that’s right, I run
I write, I rock, I ran, I’m sayin’
United Nations keep watchin’
I’ll play the hero
Media keep talkin’, but who want to stop me?
There’s also plenty of lyrics about dropping and taking bombs, and bracing yourself, alluding to more double entendres about real things happening around the globe. Definitely interested to hear him speak more about this record and its meaning(s).
Enjoy “Shockandawe” below and pick up the single via iTunes.
