Nashville-based Reflection Music Group is definitely moving Hip-Hop (and music period) forward with what is self-described as “honest music that shapes urban culture.” One of its leading artists, Orlando-by-way-of-DMV artist Deraj, has already proven himself to be one of the dopest lyricists in the game since 2014’s Mirrors & Medicine and subsequent tracks and collaborations alongside B. Cooper and Derek Minor (and more). Now, he’s ready to hit the masses in the head with another work of art titled Goodish.
The forthcoming 6-track offering is being led by the warm, fun (and Caribbean-inspired) new single “Hold You Down,” a beautiful ode to his wife:
I’ma hold you down like a push start button, I’ma be around if your friends start frontin’
I’ma be around when you wish I wasn’t, cause I know that you love it
You know I’m paying attention, even when we go through the tension
This is more than a friendship, you getting all my commitment
Enjoy “Hold You Down” (featuring GNRA) below, along with a promotional teaser for Goodish, which drops September 15th (pre-order via iTunes). In related news, the aforementioned (and equally-amazing) Derek Minor recently liberated his own project titled Your Soul Must Fly (on which Deraj is featured)…you can stream that awesomeness out here.
