As hip-hop continues to evolve and get further away from its humble beginnings, a handful of creatives continue to embody the genre’s original sentiments; enter nostalgic wordsmith iQue. Raised in Fort Washington – MD, the rising rap talent has been making a name for himself in the DMV for the past couples years. Determined to make 2018 a major milestone in his music career, today he unloads his latest body of work.
Titled Classics 4 Dummies, the intellectually inclined emcee brings his raw musical talent to the forefront on the thought-provoking project. Sonically reminiscent of A Tribe Called Quest, the 15-track mixtape is mostly jazz-hop and loaded with raw and catchy melodies. As suggested by the artwork, inspiration for the tape includes Stevie Wonder, Tupac, Michael Jackson, and Lauryn Hill. Despite the current atmosphere surrounding hip-hop, iQue has strategically chosen to echo a positive yet relevant theme throughout the project while still opening up about his personal life.
