Connecticut-born, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Michael Minelli has been grinding for success for a while now, and it shows. In addition to fairly recent exposure courtesy of ESPN and Ryan Seacrest, the versatile talent has also shared stages with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Wale and Jordin Sparks.

This year, Minelli looks to break out with his own project, led by “W4YL” (“Wait For Your Love”) and — as we get to check out today — the ultra-smooth new single “Pick It Up.” As the artist explains, the upbeat, island-esque track speaks to one of the honest realities in real relationships:

It’s about a woman feeling like her man isn’t doing enough or giving her what she needs physically or emotionally… The man identifies he’s messing up and wants to pick it back up. Every woman wants the time from a man to be listened to and understood.
