Suicide is real. In regards to music, it seems even more so — the recent deaths of rockers Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington have only added to the rising issue of mental health amongst both the creators and the fans that listen to them for emotional comfort and understanding.
Maryland rapper Logic knows and understands this — which is why he — along with Khalid and Alessia Cara — created the powerful song “1-800-273-8255,” titled so after the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Above lies the visual for the track, which tells of a young man who’s fighting with suicidal thoughts after his relationship with other guy isn’t well-received by his family. Thankfully, the hotline is there to be his support, ultimately saving his life. The clip features a lot of big names as well: Don Cheadle, Matthew Modine, Coy Stewart, Nolan Gould, Mickaëlle X. Bizet, Luis Guzman and more help to act out the emotionally-charged story.
“1-800-273-8255” is the latest to be taken fro Everybody, available now. For more information on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, head here.
