During Jay-Z’s performance at the 2017 V Festival, he paid tribute to late rock star Chester Bennington.
One of the biggest moments in Chester’s music career is when hip-hop superstar Jay-Z joined forces with Linkin Park for the hugely successful collaborative EP Collision Course. On Saturday (Aug. 19) the moment was brought back to life when Jay-Z hit the V Festival stage and performed “Numb/Encore” to honor the Linkin Park singer. As HOV stood in front of the Stafford, England crowd he shouted, “Can you guys light it up tonight for Chester? Linkin Park, one time, tonight. Please make some noise so he can hear you all the way in heaven tonight!”
The death of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington was a devastating loss to not only the rock community but the hip-hop community as well. As the news of the sudden death spread, fans and friends gravitated even closer to Chester’s most touching moments.
