You’ve probably heard them on the radio and/or seen their #TeefusChallenge on musical.ly…meet the dynamic duo DK Guwop and 300 Rez who are both of the swagged out ingredients in their group 300lbs of Guwop. The word “Guwop” in their group name has a dual meaning- it pays respect to their role model Gucci Mane while it also stands for the acronym “God Unity Wisdom Opportunity Power”.
Hailing from Daytona Beach, Florida, the independent act 300 lbs of Guwop makes music to stand out, break the norm, set trends, and have fun. There aren’t many internationally known artists from Central Florida, so one of their goals is to put Central Florida on the map. DK Guwop and 300 Rez aren’t byproducts of local influence- they have their own unique style and aren’t afraid to set trends. Instead of conforming to what everyone else is doing, 300lbs of Guwop has their own swag. They don’t sag pants or copy what they see locals do; they like to tuck their shirts in while rocking gold, color their hair, and thrift shop. 300 Rez recently posted a naked picture on Twitter because he has no shame and wanted to demonstrate that people should be comfortable in your own skin even if they aren’t “skinny” and embrace who they are. The picture got an abundant amount of attention. It’s safe to say that this duo is far from being a swagger jacker or biter.
300lbs of Guwop is known for their single “Teefus”, which is a song that DK Guwop wrote about 300 Rez’s chosen lifestyle. For those who are unfamiliar, the word “Teefus” is a slang word in Florida for gold teeth which is a major part of the urban culture in Florida. “Teefus” was so admired by fans that it had its own challenge on the app musical.ly, which helped 300lbs of Guwop expand their fan base. The song is currently getting national radio play and getting more and more popular.
Besides continuing to make great music and inspiring the youth, 300lbs of Guwop have major goals for their music career. They plan on going certified platinum in addition to being the first act from Daytona Beach to receive a Grammy.
