When you’re one of the world’s most talked about emcees, it’s almost inevitable to avoid the question, “Who’s in your top 5 list?”
Kendrick Lamar stopped by Power 106 LA’s The Cruz Show to talk about who heavily influenced his style the most. In addition to his top 5 list being revealed, Kendrick also discussed details regarding his latest studio album, DAMN. K. Dot’s top 5 in this order: Jay, Eminem, Tupac, Biggie and Snoop. If you’re not as surprised as I am, I don’t blame you.
After releasing his list, Kendrick continued with, “These are the cats that inspire me like the most in music, the most for sure. And if you break down how I approach lyrics, you can hear the influence of each and every one of these dudes.”
However, he has regrets leaving out “God’s Son”—better known as Nas–out the list due to deciding on every angle which makes the greats great.
