Kamaiyah is officially on the move following her XXL Freshman induction. Recently, the Oakland artist (and YG‘s protege) delivered a new visual for “Build You Up,” a positive message for women and anyone who needs it:
You have had someone that comes and breaks you down
Never had someone to come and make you smile
You just need someone to come and show you love
You just need someone to come and build you up
If anything, the song (produced by 1OFAKIND & Trackademicks) and clip (directed by Damiën Sandoval) is reminiscent of classic female emcees like MC Lyte and Queen Latifah.
Enjoy “Build You Up” above, which is said to be taken from Kamaiyah’s forthcoming album Don’t Ever Get It Twisted. You can pick up the single here.
