Ice Cube Confirms New Album on Twitter

Ice Cube announced through his Twitter account that he will be releasing a new album soon.

The Tweet, simply reading “It’s coming” in response to a question about upcoming music, confirmed that the rapper will indeed be releasing a new solo album in the (hopefully near) future. Last week’s single “Only One Me” was reminiscent of his more classic style, and will be appearing on the 25th anniversary edition of Death Certificate along with 2 other new songs according to Rolling Stone. The original album was made in response and as a reaction to the Rodney King beating and subsequent riots. Ice Cube had said in a recent statement that, “Sadly, our community is dealing with many of the same issues…I only hope that young millennials feeling powerless in the ’hood can channel their own anger and frustration by listening to this record.” No word yet on if his new album will also have similar sentiments or if he will start in a new vein.

Beyond that, while a lot of his focus has been on other endeavors such as his Friday movie series and his BIG3 basketball league, fans did not disappoint in their reactions that new music was on its way, as can be seen below.

A release date for the rapper’s new album has not yet been announced.
