In a time where an alarming amount of artists in Hip-hop outsource for production, engineering, and even lyrics, Yury is a rare find in New York’s music scene.
Originally hailing from Pittsburgh, Yury is a Hip-Hop artist, song-writer, producer and dj that now resides in Brooklyn. Similar to Atlanta’s Russ, he takes pride in being a one-stop shop, and doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.
From co-headlining Webster Hall to selling out Knitting Factory, and producing for Grammy winning artists, the BK native is gradually creating a name for himself. Arguably one of the most multitalented artists rising from Brooklyn, he is constantly sharpening his unapologetically genuine sound. Influenced by a variety of Hip-hop acts including Dave East, 6lack, and Big Sean, Yury strives to be honest with all of music.
Today, Yury treats listeners to an introspective, self-produced audio release titled “Life Is.” Yury wields a uniquely mundane flow while sharing a handful of quotable gems throughout the song. Complimenting his piercing lyricism with a haunting chorus, “Life Is” a dark, yet hopeful ode to our days living.
“I made the beat first on this one. It all started ambiguous.. I added the kick, and more, and the sound became Hip-Hop. My only goal is to sit down and make music. My process is free flowing,” Yury states.
“Life Is” serves as a follow up to Yury’s previous trap-influenced track, “G Right Now” which currently sits at 20k on Soundcloud. His biggest song to date is “Growing Pains” (300k streams), which appeared on his 2016 project, entropy.
