This is big. Following their on-stage appearance at this year’s Coachella Festival, Future and Kendrick Lamar join forces for the remix to Future’s hit single “Mask Off.” Originally premiered by The Breakfast Club‘s DJ Envy, fans can now enjoy the track in full below.
As expected, the latter part of the update sees K-Dot spazzing out over Metro Boomin and Southside‘s relaxed production, and he’s still not holding much back in the form of opinion:
Platinum, platinum, platinum
Gotta look at self and ask what happened
How y’all let a conscious n***a go commercial
While only makin’ conscious albums?
How y’all let the braids on TV?
How y’all let the hood at the table?
How y’all don’t even know how to rate him?
N***as lookin’ like I’m a create-a-player
Everybody who didn’t pay respect
Gotta ‘fess up now and pay your debt
Gotta lay somethin’ down if makin’ threats
Gotta say somethin’ now, don’t hold your breath
The original version can be found on Future’s self-titled project, which — only a week later — also saw the Atlanta emcee release HNDRXX. Together, both albums made history by charting at number 1 in consecutive weeks. “Mask Off” has also earned Future a well-deserved Platinum plaque.
