A year ago (April 23rd), Beyoncé released her album Lemonade to anxious fans waiting for new music from the global star. The album was her first since her self-titled release from December 2013 and was accompanied a full-on visual piece via HBO.
A couple of months prior to Lemonade‘s arrival, she released the single and music video for “Formation,” which sparked the world with strong messages of police brutality and women empowerment. Adding to fan anticipation, Beyoncé also performed a pop up appearance with Bruno Mars at the Super Bowl Halftime show, where she announced her now-successful Formation World Tour.
Finally releasing her album on April 23, 2016 (with a visual of each song), Lemonade was a body of work that shut down rumors of her not being pregnant, her marriage with Jay Z, being in the Illuminati and more.
