Whenever Run The Jewels release something, you can expect it to both get a party lit and make you uncomfortable with a real message. This week, El-P and Killer Mike liberate a socially-charged new visual for “Legend Has It,” the first to be taken from the duo’s third album (RTJ3).
In the clip (directed by Brian Beletic), we see the artists recently-arrested in stuck in a line-up, which bounces around a little girl, a clown-faces police officer and other random suspects. It’s a multi-layered shot at the prison system and everything that’s wrong with it; halfway through the clip, we even get statistics on rising mass incarceration rates in the country. In addition to a stuffed bunny seeing its head blown off, viewers also get a Keyser Söze-style ending.
Enjoy the “Legend Has It” clip in full below and — if you haven’t already — pick up your copy of RTJ3 here. In related news, Run The Jewels will be continuing a festival-heavy trek across the planet for much of the Summer (which includes their just announced Glastonbury confirmation); you can check out upcoming tour dates as well.
