This month, Wu-Tang legend Raekwon will be releasing his eighth studio album The Wild, of which we’ve already heard the raw, hard-hitting track “This Is What It Comes To“. This week, the Chef liberates a new visual for “Purple Brick Road”, an orchestraic piece that sees production from J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and features additional bars from Bay Area star G-Eazy. If you’re a fan of Rick Ross‘ “Maybach Music” series (all of which the aforementioned production team is behind), then you have an accurate idea of how “Purple Brick Road” is on the auditory system.
In the clip, Raekwon and G-Eazy share their reflective musings set to cinematic backdrops of the Hollywood Hills and other points within Los Angeles, all loosely centered around a meeting between the two artists. Plenty of beautiful women are peppered throughout, smoking on Kandypens (a vape brand who apparently had a part in the video’s creation). Given the vastly different backgrounds and eras, it’s amazing to see how Raekwon continues to evolve and remain relevant alongside his When It’s Dark Out collaborator.
Check out “Purple Brick Road” below. The Wild drops March 24th via H20 Records/EMPIRE (pre-order here) and will see additional appearances from Cee-Lo Green, Lil Wayne, Andra Day and P.U.R.E.
