Philly’s Voss returns with the official visual for stand-out track “Rest for the Wicked,” which appeared on his 2016 debut LP Insatiable.
Throughout the hook, Voss paraphrases the Nina Simone classic “Sinner Man,” by asking, (seemingly himself) “where you gonna run to when what you runnin’ from becomes you?”
The Rob Devious-produced track is one of the most emotionally poignant in Voss’ arsenal, dissecting personal problems in a honestly, relatable fashion.
The video, directed by Planetary P, is a simple yet compelling clip, following Voss running from an unknown entity the entire length of the video. The metaphors in the song’s lyrics are reflected in the visual, with physical manifestations of the rapper’s demons popping up to stop him from escaping what ultimately turns out to be.
