Khalid dropped the remix to “Location” his 2016 hit on Friday and it features Lil Wayne and Kehlani.
The Billboard single is featured on the R&B singer-songwriter’s freshmen LP, The American Teen, which debuted on March 3rd. Like the album version, the remix explores the topic of true intimacy in a high-technology driven era. On the track, Lil’ Wayne kicks things off with an erotic, auto-tuned verse:
“I meet you at the spot, send the location; I don’t do this a lot, special occasion/ I know you ain’t a thottie, you ain’t no basic; I turn your dry spot into an oasis,” raps Wayne.
Khalid takes over from where Wayne leaves off with the same verse from the original single as Kehlani compliments the soulful ballad with her sultry soprano vocals on the third verse. The remix closes with the trio harmonizing in soulful bliss. Last Wednesday, Khalid made his television debut by performing the song with some help from The Roots on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Behind the scenes, the El Paso, Texas-based artist spoke about his inspiration for writing the song. Take a listen to the “Location” remix below.
