If you know BOXX, it’s most definitely from seeing him hang around Fairfax Ave in LA during the day and throwing underground parties for youth in New York, Toronto & Los Angeles when he’s nocturnal. Recently featured on Dazed and the OVO blog, he’s been causing somme buzz about a single named “Blessings,” the video for which he drops today. Produced by Birdie Bands and directed by Miggy, it’s clear what BOXX’s appeal is: extremely colorful, jumpy and sauced up turn-upism reminiscent of an early Playboicarti. Don’t be surprised though to find yourself replaying this party starter of a track, especially if you’re surrounded by a pack of sub-20 year olds with nothing on their schedule but time and drugs.
His song “Blessings” is about celebrating the good things in his life. The video sees the young gunner posted up from place to place mixing substances whilst counting his blessings as well as reminding his frienemies it’s a blessing if he pulls up to your party. As far as the song goes, it brings together west coast trap-infused sounds with BOXX’s New York freshness yet keeping it fun and turn up friendly. Directed by Miggy.
