Los Angeles is a big city. In fact, it’s one of the biggest, and when entertainment is your forte, it could seem enormous. The toughest thing to do is to be a big fish, in a big pond. When you come from a city that has bred legends such as Ice Cube, The Game and more recently, Kendrick Lamar; it’s hard not to get lost in the shuffle. But don’t tell that to City of Angels native Atlee, who checks in with his infectious new project, 22-EP.
At only six tracks long, 22-EP is short but packs the punch of a full length album. Rhyming over wavy synths and So Cal inspired drum kicks, Atlee uses the project to showcase his impressive growth since Lost in Transition, which was released last year. The 22-year-old artist is very aware of that growth as well, “My mentality has changed and I see things from a different perspective, to the point where I think it’s reflected in my music.” he told RESEPCT. through email. Boasting features from Chris Batson, Gallo, and California favorite Mani Coolin’, 22-EP serves as the perfect appetizer to what is sure to be an eventful 2017 for Atlee. “We already shhot a video for “Becoming“, so that should be released sooner than later,” said the L.A. native, “I really just want to continue to build on this foundation, so staying busy and working.”
Check out the vibey new project below, which is also available on streaming services everywhere.
