BET recently brought forward The New Edition Story miniseries. The three-part series received great reviews and high ratings. According to Deadline, BET has decided to keep the ball rolling and will be taking on a new hour-long music series based on the life of the legendary hip-hop veteran, Nas. The upcoming series is titled Street Dreams. The title is adapted from the hit single on Nas’ 1996 album, It Was Written. Street Dreams will show Nas in his Queensbridge Housing Projects days as he goes from a young drug dealer to a rapper to an adult.
In 2014, the series was picked up by now defunct company, Xbox Entertainment Studios. Jonathan Levine, best known for creating the TV series Rush, will be writing the script as well as directing the pilot episode of Street Dreams. The series will be executively produced by Nas, Jamie Patricof, Lynette Howell, and Nas’ manager Anthony Saleh.
