Award season is officially in effect! With December’s Critic Choice Awards, and this month’s previous run of the Golden Globes, the biggest award show of the entertainment industry is close upon us.
The 89th Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, is one of entertainment’s most prestige honor for all of Hollywood’s key players.
Every year, the Oscar nominees are announced in standard fashion– an announcement ceremony in front of a live audience. However, this year’s nominees were announced in a way completely new to the Academy Awards. This year’s award contenders were named via a global livestream.
Current Oscar winners and nominees alike such as Jennifer Hudson, Jason Reitman, and Brie Larson were some of the stars used to announce the films being honored at this year’s Academy Awards.
Check out the full list below and be sure to watch the 89th Academy Awards hosted by Jimmy Kimmel on Feb. 26.
