In 2016, LA Rapper, Indica made waves with his self-titled debut mixtape. Save for a few features since then, it’s been pretty quiet for the young artist. He makes a bold return in 2017 with the video for his new dancehall inspired single, “Jugamos.” The track is a striking change from his usual downtempo trap songs, demonstrating his incredible versatility. Directed by Amber Park and Russ Fraser, the creative and trippy visuals find him in a dimly lit, forested setting with cryptic images of women as he sings in spanglish. In the song, he makes his intentions clear to a woman who he feels does not take his advances seriously, crooning “Jugamos, why you playing games?”
The idea behind the visuals? He tells Pigeons & Planes:
“I made an island song because I f**k with the drums and “One Dance” was poppin’ at the time. Yugi Boi sent the beat over and I freestyled over the entire thing using spanglish throughout just having fun. Once I finished it, I wanted to use visuals to make the song come to life. With the help of Amber Park and Russ Fraser behind the scenes, we ended up making a fresh movie, JUGAMOS.”
