A big congratulations is in order for The Weeknd who was named as the top musical act in the U.S. The Weeknd has spent 10 weeks at #1 on Billboards Artist 100 chart. According to Billboard, the artist 100 measures artist actively across the boards most influential charts, including Billboard Hot 100, Top Album Sales and Social 50. The Artist 100 blends multiple data sources to provide a weekly ranking of artist popularity.
The ‘Starboy’ performer has also broken the global record for first-week streams with more than 223 million since the release of his third album entitled Starboy. The Weeknd is also the No. 1 artist on Spotify based on monthly listeners; surpassing Drake, breaking the music site’s one day record with Starboy racking up 40 million streams in a single day.
The Weeknd has tallied up more than 400 million global streams during Starboy’s release week, including Spotify, Apple Music and a host of other streaming platforms. The way things are moving in The Weeknd’s favor, it’s already gearing up to be an early Christmas and a very happy 2017 for the artist. With numbers like this we can only imagine what else he has up his sleeves for the year to come as we feel he won’t be slowing down any time soon.
