Welcome to a new era of gods and monsters. In the newest reboot of The Mummy, a priestess is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension.
This reboot of The Mummy will come out 85 years after the 1932 Boris Karloff original, 18 years after the 1999 remake of The Mummy and 16 years after The Mummy Returns. The 2017 reboot stars Sofia Boutella, Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis and Russell Crowe.
The teaser trailer starts off with the priestess being removed from her crypt (mistake #1) and then takes us to the plane she is being transported on. The plane is then attacked by a swarm of black birds. These birds end up killing the pilots and send the plane spiraling down.
Tom Cruise’s character attaches a parachute to Sofia Boutella’s character and saves her life. He goes down with the plane. After the crash all the bodies are brought back to a lab. There Cruise’s character awakens after being dead with super human abilities.
The priestess is then shown and has the ability to duplicate her eyes. Really freaky.
In another clip Cruise’s character sets out to find the priestess, Princess Ahmanet. Russel Crowe then graces the screen and tells the team of Cruise and Boutella that Ahmanet will claim what she has been denied.
The Mummy is set to release in the summer of 2017. Will this film succeed or flop like its predecessors? Check out the teaser below and decide for yourself:
