Air Jordan 11 “Space Jams”
Release date: December 10th, 2016
Retail price: $220
In 1996, Michael Jordan made his Hollywood debut with the nationwide release of the motion picture “Space Jam.” Prior to the release of the movie, 3 colorways of the Air Jordan 11 released to the public. One pair, however, that he wore in the film didn’t make it out to stores.
On Wednesday, Dec 13th, 2000, one of the most anticipated sneaker releases of all-time occurred and shook the sneaker game up. Wednesday releases were a common thing for the Jordan brand at the time, but this was different. Sneakerheads from all over were flooding stores, kids were skipping school, and people were calling out from work. Michael Jordan stopped the world in the middle of the week with a sneaker release!
Since 2000, every year has featured a high-demand Air Jordan 11 release. For the past 16 years, lines have wrapped around buildings, websites have crashed and people have been missing sleep. Every year, however, Michael Jordan never disappoints.
Air Jordan 11 – Most Popular Releases (2000-2016)
Footlockers have been cleared out, websites have crashed, and sneakerheads have jumped on each pair they could find. This year, for the third time, the “Space Jams” have been re-released. This Air Jordan is sporting the classic black and white color scheme, with a concord jumpman. The shoe is now sporting Jordan’s baseball number, “45”, instead of the classic “23” found on every other release.
Michael Jordan has done it again. It’s been 20 years since sneakerheads have seen the shoe, and everyone still can’t get enough of them!
