Ahead of his much-anticipated new LP, Eleven Chuck, due out this Friday (Veterans Day), Seattle’s Carl Roe delivers another heavy hitting track, “Roe’s House,” that’s towering with wordplay and blistering bars.
The thing is, Roe’s rhymes are impressive beyond the fact that he’s a technical beast, and he makes that clear in the track’s hilarious intro. Over a vintage church sample, he performs an absurd Arnold Schwarzenegger impression (straight from 1999’s End of Days), adding a bit of levity to the track.
But “Roe’s House” is no joke, because Carl Roe straight-up murders the layered, sample-flipping instrumental from Australian producer, Rahjconkas. His beat is all pianos, brass, and head-nodding drums, the perfect canvas for the Seattle native to showcase his burgeoning vocal skills and, of course, those immense rapping chops.
On that note, Peep these bars from the final verse: “Just when you thought you seen the best of Roe, I made him greater/ Here’s some advice you can take away and save for later/ Kill your father like you’re Luke and say, ‘I made it, Vader’/ And don’t work with your idols if you don’t want to hate ‘em later.”
“Roe’s House” can now be streamed right here courtesy of RESPECT., and is available as the 2nd instant grat track off the iTunes pre-order for Eleven Chuck. The 17 track LP includes features from his long time partner in rhyme, Ripynt, as well as Fatal Lucciauno, Mic Handz, Landon Wordswell, DJ Revolution and more, and boasts production from the likes of Nottz, Brainstorm, GrandRiggity, and Carolinah Blu, among others.
