Atlanta resident, Jeda Sky, has been making major waves as of late. From kicking off her multi-city Quality Over Quantity Tour, to prepping her debut album, she’s been working non stop to familiarize the world with her unique sound. We sat down with her to discuss her latest release “Where The Cash At“, as well as her past and future plans in hip-hop:
Tell us about some of the things you’ve been working on besides your latest single you just released.
Jeda: I’m actually working on my debut album titled #FromHer2Me; that were looking to drop early 2017.
We see you’re gearing up for a promotional tour, where are you headed and what cities are you most excited about?
Jeda: I’m super excited about Houston, Miami, and my current home, Atlanta. But I would love to add Virginia to the tour.
What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of being a female artist in 2016?
Jeda: To be honest it’s kind of of the same old thing. This industry full of wolves that still try to get you to “put out” to get on; that or turn you into a complete sex symbol…
Negative Troop I ain’t with that” so you have to be extra dope, extra hungry, extra intelligent to make it in this field.
But The advantage now is women are more independent and dedicated so we’re no longer waiting for the industry to give us what we deserve; now we’re taking it.
Have you been following the presidential election, what are your thoughts on the candidates?
Jeda: Honestly I feel were damned if we do and F*CKED IF WE DON’T… Not really a fan of either but now we have to decide v which is the lesser evil, and I mean that literally.
What are some projects or songs from 2016 that you’ve been a huge fan of so far?
Jeda: I’m a huge fan of Chance The Rapper’s project. Kevin Gates’ album, Sia, and last but definitely not least Solange’s latest album.
Tell us what you can about your next project you plan to release.
Jeda: We are pushing for the beginning of 2017 to drop the album. The title is #FromHer2Me, this album is basically a road map from my past and the things I used to do and be on up till the present; talking about the things I’ve let go things I’ve learned and the individual I’m currently becoming. The project will have about 12 tracks including my favorite, Fresh Heirs.
How can our readers stay in contact with you?
Jeda: Y’all can hit me up on IG @jedasky on Twitter @jeda_sky.
Thanks for kickin it with us and allowing us to get familiar with you.
