After releasing his second project Imperial on Soundcloud back in March of this year, Denzel Curry revisited the LP yesterday to drop the visual for the penultimate track “Zenith” featuring Joey Bada$$. The latter makes an actual appearance in the JMP directed video, despite currently being on tour with TDE’s Schoolboy Q.
The ominous clip was shot entirely in black and white, and features both young rappers separated in adjacent rooms. Along with them are a number of seemingly dazed humans whom they are unable to communicate with. As they trade verses back and forth via webcam, they eventually realize they’re separated by only a thin wall and make their escape unharmed.
Speaking with Urban Outfitters about the recent release, Denzel reveals: “If you look at ‘Threatz’ and ‘Parents’ then you look at ‘Zone 3,’ all of that is nostalgic. [You] realize that all three of those videos tie into each other because of the way they were shot and the way it looks — colorful. When you look at the stuff that I’m releasing now, all of that fits around pure honesty, but I wanted to put it into a weird world.”
