Wheelchair Sports Camp Drops "Mary Had A Little Band"

One of Strange Famous Records most recent additions, Wheelchair Sports Camp (WSC), has shared a new video for “Mary Had A Little Band” from the Denver trio’s forthcoming album, No Big Deal. The album is the first release on Sage Francis’s latest endeavor, Strange Famous Digital (or SFdigi for short), a label imprint under the Strange Famous umbrella.

WSC got its start in 2008 and is spearheaded by lead female MC Kayln Heffernan, and features Joshua Trinidad on trumpet and Gregg Ziemba on the drums, who have toured extensively together for the past several years, often alongside their Strange Famous family.

Produced by the late, great Ikey Owens (Jack White, Free Moral Agents, The Mars Volta), No Big Deal bursts with a musicality unmatched by any of WSC’s contemporaries.

“The last time I met with Ikey was to catch up on life stuff and discuss his work with WSC,” explained Sage Francis in a statement. “Despite being a music virtuoso and seasoned producer, he seemed equally excited as he was nervous to tackle a hip-hop project. We discussed what style of music might best suit Kalyn, but from everything I had heard it was all on the right path.”

At just three-feet, six-inches tall, and 53 pounds, Heffernan may be tiny, but she makes up for her diminutive stature in both personality and talent. She was born with brittle bone disease, or Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which has her rolling in a wheelchair most of the time, but that hasn’t slowed her down. If anything, it’s only made her more determined. No Big Deal is scheduled for a September 30 release. Head to the Strange Famous Records store to pre-order the album.
