The Last Artful, Dodgr/ YouTube
We should all prepare for the Portland-based artist The Last Artful, Dodgr to make her mark in the constant changing landscape of rap music.
Earlier this month, The Last Artful, Dodgr released her video for the track “Jelly Hunt,” which follows the tale of a blue-collar worker guiding herself through life lessons while balancing both home life and relationships with others.
Dodgr’s “Jelly Hunt” is produced by her other half in rap, Neil Von Tally. Von Tally does a terrific job of encapsulating Dodgr’s gritty sound and style over the track with his laid-back and spacious beats.
In the video, Dodgr emits an energetic and captivating solo performance in a photo studio while other parts of the video see her roaming the streets of downtown Los Angeles. Tim Slew of Soundlapse directed Dodgr’s street essence in “Jelly Hunt” which results in an unexpected ending.
Dodgr and Von Tally released their debut EP Fractures last year. Fractures was followed up by early 2016’s Rare Treat EP which was a collaboration with Mike Bogan. Expect The Last Artful, Dodgr & Neill Von Tally to gear up for the release of their debut full-length project, slated for a release later this fall.
