The Seattle Mariners catcher posted unsightly and apathetic tweets about the Black Lives Matter protests. In the wake of an unacceptable amount of killings this year, acts of racism and the BLM protests have been ever present. The Mariners’ player, Steve Clevenger made his comments about the most recent unjust death of Keith Lamont Scott in North Carolina.
After two ignorant tweets that were quickly removed and made apologies for on the Mariners’ account, images of the earlier tweets are still spiraling around the web causing controversy.
This is not the only time an athlete has made comments and stands about the current BLM events, killings, and protests. Everyone seems to have an opinion and maybe this is why, he believed he could get away with his ignorance. Most recently, athletes like Colin Kaepernick have made a stand against the authority and the injustices that have occurred all over America for the past few years.
Clearly, his actions have caused disruptions in the minds of those who are still stuck in the Jim Crow Era. Kaepernick has continued his stand and has made his way to the cover of Time Magazine. Many athletes have taken a stand beside Kaepernick and his protests, which is riling up many Americans.
Steve Clevenger has openly identified himself as one who has taken offense to something that has nothing to do with him, if he would just shut up and be still. A lot of Americans are in the same boat as Clevenger, and apparently this is the same boat that used to sail across the seven seas for enslavement purposes.
But because the majority love to show their a**, the saga continues. And for those who don’t know, those who oppose peace will lose. We are sick of seeing innocent men killed just like you are sick of seeing innocent and justified protests. Have a seat, or better yet, stand your a** up. You can’t sit with us.
