Thousands of Atlanta citizens today are mourning due to the death of legendary street rapper Shawty Lo. According to reports Shawty Lo was headed south down I-285 leaving the club when he lost control of his 2016 Audi. Shawty Lo was ejected from the car when the car hit guard rails, slammed into trees and turned into flames. The other two passengers were rushed to the hospital with non-fatal injuries but Shawty Lo was pronounced dead at the scene. At first, reports were saying that this was the result of a hit and run incident but according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution police later reported that it was a single car accident.
Many people are saddened by this unexpected death. Shawty Lo leaves behind 11 children and a ton of family and friends. When he was pronounced dead, his manager and long time friend, Johnnie Cabbell tweeted from Shawty Lo’s account: “My brother has passed, He is no longer here but his spirit, his kind heart and his music will live on. Long live Shawty Lo King of Bankhead.”
In the eyes of most Atlanta natives, Shawty Lo is a legend. From his first appearance on the rap scene with the dance crazed group, D4L to his solo endeavors, he was always genuine and dedicated to his work.
Rest in Peace Shawty Lo.
