Nowadays, everybody does everything and nobody does something. What I mean by that is, the days of people with specific skills have began to fade, and the dawn of “swiss army knife” zombies has arised. No longer do you see somebody who is just a photographer and damn good at it. Nope. Instead, we have “influencers” and people who do a little bit of everything…. But nothing everyday. This is the sentiment that Las Vegas native Mando shares in his new track, “Occasion“. An ode to the people out there working more than just sometimes.
Produced by frequent collaborator AM — and mixed and mastered by Mando himself — “Occasion” is a silky smooth sounding track that oozes substance once peeling back the layers. Mando exhibits suave vocal control while keeping his rhymes gritty and tightly wound. “I’m working day and night/ So outside the box, y’all stay inside/ Making my own story, I won’t let faith decide” rhymes Mando over stout 808s and crispy hi-hats.
“The idea came from working in the studio all day and night and going back the next day to do the same exact thing,” says Mando in an email to RESPECT. Mag, “I do it all day everyday. Not just at the moment but at all times.” The Sin City native also spoke on his upcoming project, which has yet to receive a release date. “This one isn’t on the next project but it’s definitely a preview of how I want it to sound,” Mando says, “I want it to be positive and inspiring. It will be titled Worth The Wait and produced entirely by AM.”
