New Jersey native, Nader has continued his stream of activity this summer, following up his two singles “Take It Back” and “DYRLM” with “Games.” The four and a half minute track features minimalist production, but merit lies in its simplicity, if not beauty. A simple bass line and hi-hat are pretty much all that accompany Nader’s delicate vocals, allowing his stellar falsetto to shine through. It’s angelic, it’s sexy, but it also leaves something to be desired. The man can obviously sing, but the song ultimately failed to leave a lasting impression. It’s The Weeknd, minus the hard hitting basslines that make his songs so appealing.
The lyrics are nothing special, either. It’s obvious where Nader’s mind is at when he croons “So if it’s games you play, then I will play them too.” But what the song lacks in creativity, it makes up for in its honesty. You can tell Nader’s been enamored by a woman who doesn’t quite want to commit, and the song plays out as if he’s singing directly to her. While “Games” isn’t going to blow you away, it’s a decent effort that does well at capturing a situation many of us have been in before. Stream it down below.
