Goldlink just recently released his new track called “Rough Soul,” featuring April George. The song is produced by Jameel, who is a member and instrumentalist of the group The Internet.
This soulful new track is about a failed romance in a setting of stardom. There is the meeting at the beginning.
“Tell me Hollywood kinda weird/You don’t really like it but you gotta play the biz.”
Next comes the breakup.
“Everybody know we probably woulda made it last/But there you go, started tripping never hit me back.”
And you can’t forget about the hook sung by April George that will no doubt bring about acceptance.
“Girl you’re gone now/And oh baby/Don’t call me, don’t call me no more.”
Between Goldlink’s rhymes and George’s hook, the two of them tell the story magnificently and with an outpouring of emotion.
The track was released on September 22, despite Goldlink currently being out of the country on a European tour. This includes performing at London’s AFROPUNK festival, September 24, before continuing on with the rest of his tour. You can listen to the song below.
