After releasing the video for his track “Carried Away,” UK MC Akala drops a new song titled “Giants.”
Echoing reggae vibes, the rapper got help from artists Kabaka Pyramid and Marshall. “Giants” gives us a good mix between a lazy party track whilst also providing some valuable social lessons. The track has been released whilst we await Akala’s retrospective album 10 Years of Akala which is due to drop September 23rd.
Akala provided comments on the social messaging in the song:
“Giants is a track about pioneers and foundation-layers, those who have paved the way politically, culturally and musically in a positive way for the world that we inhabit today.”
He has also spoken out about how he recruited Marshall onto the track:
“The track came about as a collaboration between myself and Marshall and when I reached out to Kabaka Pyramid, who ironically had just listened to my Fire In The Booth Pt. 4, he understood the concept of the track and was eager to lay a verse, despite being in the midst of a USA/European tour.”
The rapper is definitely heating things up ahead of releasing 10 Years of Akala and his upcoming tour around the UK.
