Robert Downey Jr. teams up with HBO for a new series. This is the second Hollywood star to team up with HBO on a new project. Last week we discussed Jennifer Lopez‘s project with HBO. Now, Robert Downey Jr. and ‘True Detective’ creator Nic Pizzolatto team up for a reboot drama series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Sources say the project may be based on Downey’s long-gestating Perry Mason reboot, which rather than a Warner Bros. Pictures feature is now being eyed for the small screen with Downey’s wife and producing partner, Susan Downey of Team Downey, set to exec produce with the actor.” The show was a legal drama series back in the late 50’s about a crime defense lawyer who cleared his accused clients by drawing out the real criminal on the witness stand. Downey has been working on a Perry Mason film for years with Warner Bros. before it lost its footing.
This will be Downey’s return to TV after his role on ‘Ally McBeal’ back in the early 2000’s. Details are still underway on the production of the series.
