PARTYNEXTDOOR is clearly a hit maker and his songs are those that hit a certain nerve with his listeners. His music is the kind that evokes a melancholic feel. This is not the first time an R&B singer, or artist has used those emotions to their advantage. However, the listener doesn’t always consider the emotions the artist is feeling when creating their work. PND opened up in an interview with Rolling Stone sharing his current emotions and the past year.
PARTYNEXTDOOR has grown in popularity within the last few years with the help of artists such as Drake and Rihanna. His music is one that not only allows a soul healing emotion, but also has the ability to get major plays in the club. As all this attention is vital to success it does have the ability to cause changes in moods and views of life. PND shares his bouts with the past year.
“This year wasn’t a party for me, as ironic as that is. The best and worst things happened at once.”
Love problems with another rising star, Kehlani effected his emotions. Social media took the situation and ran with it, PND states that he does regret how their relationship was seen to the public. As many believed Kehlani was with her then fling, Kyrie Irving, they really had no clue.
“Big time I regret how it went down. I look into people’s eyes, and I know they think I’m a bad guy. There’s a lot of details that people don’t know.”
And even though he has released more than a few hits this year for others, his now focus is on his own future and album.
“I’m looking for joy… I want to invest time in creating moments for myself.”
PND mentions that making himself happiest will include his music and the style he wants to produce it as instead of what other want him to create.
“I went from braggadocious to blues.”
We all know that PND’s new album, P3 has some great hits on it, however it is the form and message that is the most interesting. We all have peaks and valleys in our life and that is what makes music great. It is the relation and connection we build to it. After this year and on to the next, PND’s journey should be one for the books.
