Cleveland has their king back, and he is here to stay! LeBron James signed a $100 million deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and for the first time in his career is the highest paid player in the NBA- and rightfully so. He deserves this contract after the incredible performance he had against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, winning the organization their first championship. He statistically dominated the series as he lead both teams in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals. After the drama that took place after “The Decision,” it is safe to say he has rectified the broken hearts that were once in Cleveland. They are all ecstatic to have their prize possession in their hometown.
What does this signing mean for the Cavaliers? A promising future and more finals appearances. The last six NBA Finals showdowns have been between the best team in the Western Conference, and whichever team James played for. For the next three years, the NBA Finals are going to look similar to those of the previous years. With the Golden State Warriors being as star filled as they are, it’s safe to say we will see this match up for years to come. With the possibility of Kyrie Irving staying and the resigning of Tristan Thompson from last year, the franchise is looking to be a major threat to the possible dynasty that is in the Western Conference.
LeBron James is looking to be the first billion-dollar athlete in the NBA. With the cap increasing, NBA players are subject to higher salaries and larger market opportunities. He has a lifetime deal with Nike and more possible contracts with the Cavaliers. If there is anyone in the NBA who could possibly become the first to hit a billion dollars, it is this man.
