DJ Khaled will no doubt be celebrating tonight after reaching the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart with his record Major Key.
It’s the first time in Khaled’s career that he has hit number one with a record. His LP moved 95,000 equivalent album units from the week of August 4th, which includes 59,000 traditional album sales. The DJ knocked off Drake’s VIEWS from the top spot, which has been sitting there for 12 weeks straight. Currently, Khaled’s track “For Free” which features Drizzy is sitting at No. 1 on the Billboard singles chart. The popular hit is the second-highest charting single for the We The Best boss on Billboard’s charts.
The DJ took to Instagram to announce the news and spoke of the relentless hard work it took to achieve the accolade.
Major Key is Khaled’s eighth album, and has impressed many, featuring a long list of big names in the rap game including J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Big Sean to name a few. Taking allegiance with Apple Music, the DJ released the LP exclusively through the music streaming service in it’s first week. It is now available on other platforms as well as Apple Music.
With the album being a success, the DJ is also seeing great news in other areas of his life. Khaled’s wife is pregnant with a baby boy on the way.
