New York’s Brodie Fresh is back at it with a subgenre-bending banger, “Oh No.”
This is just the latest in a series of impressive moves from the Elmont, NY up-and-comer. Early in the year he released the Farewell EP and the fire single, “Get it,” in May.
But it’s with his most recent track that Brodie shows he’s a true student of hip-hop and an artist who has spent some time on each coast. “Oh No,” features verses where he smoothly finesses syllables together, echoing the flavor of California emcees. In the same moment, we’re given ear candy in the form of playful inflections tied to relentless cadences, over the brooding production of ID Sounds.
Impressively, Brodie is known to play with a live band (sometimes being the only act in a showcase to do so) yet, he’s simultaneously able to jump on or host tracks with his contemporaries and colleagues. Hence, the birth of the celebratory hometown anthem “New York,” featuring Dave East, Tray Pizzy and Mike Classic, where the young king showed he had dope verses and fire hooks up his sleeve.
We love the track over here at RESPECT., but let us know what you think!
