Over the past couple of years, Birdman has been in the hot seat for numerous situations. From his lawsuit with Lil Wayne and his embarrassing interview with the Breakfast Club, Birdman can’t catch a break. Now, Birdman is being sued for $3.3 mill for unauthorized samples and we can’t really say we are shocked.
The lawsuit states the sampled songs’ writers haven’t been paid for the Lloyd & Lil Wayne’s track, ‘’You’’ and the Glasses Malone & Akon track’s “Certified.” “You” samples Spandeau Ballet’s 80’s hit, “True” but it’s unclear if that’s the sample they are being sued for. This behavior isn’t anything new for Birdman. Wayne claims Birdman shorted him millions of dollars in royalty payments and is seeking to remove his Young Money label from Cash Money.
Even though the case with Lil Wayne is ongoing, it was reported recently that a federal judge won’t allow Wayne’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group to continue until his situation with Birdman is resolved. Universal Music Group reportedly filed a response to the suit, asking for the case to be put on hold until Wayne can hash out his issues with Birdman.
We will keep you all posted on these lawsuits and what is to come next for Birdman!
