Since July 1st, the NBA has been witnessing another ground breaking year for player contracts. To start of the insanity, Timothy Mozgov, a back-up center for the Cleveland cavaliers, earned a whopping $64 million for four years to sign with the LA Lakers. This amount of money was awarded to a player that averaged 6 points and 5 rebounds in 36 games this year, so you can only imagine the contract of a starter right ?
Wrong, because Memphis Grizzles’ point guard Mike Conley, signed a deal for $153 Million that would be the richest in league history. This doesn’t mean that Conley, a player that has never made an All-Star appearance in his career, will be the NBA’s wealthiest contract for long.

LeBron James, is in contract negotiations as we speak. Kevin Durant has decided to take his talents to the Golden State Warriors. Many NBA analyst, including ESPN’s Ahmin ElHassan, believe that one of these two will become the association’s first 200 million dollar man. What this massive influx of cash means is that the NBA’s players associations worked tirelessly over the last collective bargaining agreement.
The NBA lockout of 2012 almost seems like a dream now, but not playing basketball for three months might have been the best thing to happen to the sport in it’s long history. Even NFL players have been turning to social media to show their reactions to the situation.

Maybe next time the NFL player’s association will bring their A-game to the negotiation table.
