School maybe about three weeks away, but a fire summertime banger is always a good way to savor the season, and with his latest track “Call Me Papi”, Connecticut emcee Future Allah is ensuring he prolongs the heat.
The record (produced by Flex Beats) features a building, layered instrumental, familiar themes and favorite hood past-times like stacking your paper, flexing and reminding those around you about how you’re living: “I’m getting money,ma/ My bitches they call me Papi/I count it a hundred times/That’s cause my pockets sloppy.”
While the song could easily rely on the catchy chorus alone to pace the song, Allah goes on to offer lofty verses, containing more substance and length than your average stunting-for-the-summer song. “Call Me Papi” is most definitely a fun track but the lyricist himself comes from very substantive roots. Not only is he the son of a writer, but he chose to take on the heavy alias of Future Allah (due to his influence by the Five-Percent Nation) and all the criticism that can come along with such a significant name.
