Joe Budden is determined to get under Drake’s skin.
After much silence from the OVO rapper, Drake took a swipe at Budden on French Montana’s track “No Shopping,” calling the Slaughterhouse member a ‘one hit wonder.’
‘Pump, pump, pump it up/She got a good head on her, but I pump it up/I’m not a one hit wonder, they know all my stuff/You let me turn into the n***a that you almost was…’
Since the track dropped yesterday, Budden has wasted no time at all, dropping a response to the diss called “Afraid.” This is Budden’s third diss track aimed at Drizzy. The cut samples Drake’s song “The Resistance” from his 2010 album Thank Me Later. Specifically, the No Love Lost rapper uses the words of the hook from the song to attacks Drake’s supposed ‘fear’ in responding to him. This is something he channels in the verses as well.
‘What am I afraid of?/This is supposed to be what dreams are made of/But people I don’t have the time to hang with/Always look at me and say the same s**t/They say you promised you would never change…’
He attacks the 6 God from many angles, accusing him of no longer writing his own raps, referencing a freestyle he did on HOT 97 some years ago where he read his bars from his Blackberry.
‘Wish we could go back and grab the blackberry with the scroll, oh/Yeah Aubrey that’s the one we trusted/Not this new Aubrey with his stomach sculpted…’
Budden also makes fun of Drizzy, taking us back to the images of him from his Degrassi: The Next Generation days.
‘See some of us know you as Jimmy barely old/He had the baby belly fro, nigga was frail up in his clothes/Barely got a hold and it’s seeming very outta control..’
Check out the track below and let us know what you think of Budden’s bars about Drake.
