If you’re anything like me, when you go to the grocery store the only thing you really want to focus on is getting in and getting out. But sometimes that’s not always achievable especially when there are people standing on the outside of the store asking for donations. (I literally sit in the car and plan to escape to another entrance in which I don’t have to pass them because I know they will ask for money that I don’t have.)
Well, if you just happen to see Leah Nelson outside of a grocery store you don’t have to plan to make an alternate route because she’s won’t be trying to sell you anything but give you something that will change your day and someone else’s as well.
According to FOX40 10 year old Leah Nelson started a campaign called “Becuz I Care.” The program encourages people to treat each other with kindness. Cool, right? And with the turmoil that’s been blasting across the news and social media the past couple of weeks, an initiative like this couldn’t be more on time. So how does the bracelet initiative work? Well, it’s very simple:
Once you receive the bracelet, you then must turn around and do something nice and/or kind for someone else. Per Leah the good deed could be paying a compliment or purchasing a cup of coffee – whatever you see fit to do, just be kind in doing it. After you have done the good deed, you would then give the bracelet to the individual in whom you helped and then they would have to turn around and do something kind for another person and pass them the bracelet.
One might wonder, what would make a 10 year-old come up with such an idea. Children also witness what’s going on in the world and also want it to be nicer to one another just as most of us adults do.
“I just want the world to be a better place. I mean there’s many issues and people are mad about the issues, and if you’re mad about the issues, why don’t you take action to try and change them?” Leah Nelson
Leah has been getting many accolades for her initiative and good will toward human kind. She has a Facebook page where you can learn more about the bracelet initiative and how it has created a ripple effect in Sacramento. With the way things are going, Leah just may be on the road to getting everyone else on her side as well. One bracelet at a time.
