Tory Lanez talks Drake, new album, and much more
Tory Lanez, the next hottest thing to come out of the city of Toronto. He has come into the game and made some pretty good moves, but there seems to be a gap in support from fellow Toronto native Drake.
Tory Lanez joins Ebro in The Morning and pretty much sets the record straight on the entire situation. Technically, there cannot be any personal problems between the two artists, because they don’t “personally” know one another.
I think people have to look at it from a certain view,” Lanez said. “At the end of the day it’s never gonna be a personal problem because I don’t know that man… The only thing that’s going to lie in between us is that we can’t share first place… Hip-Hop is a contact sport, I’m here to be No. 1, I’m here to be the greatest.
Later, Lanez speaks on his single “Luv.” The song gives off the Caribbean-feel that has NEVER gone away, but it is an important factor in today’s mainstream wave. Ebro asked if there was any inspiration from “Work” and/or Drake’s “Controlla” and “One Dance” records. Tory takes it back to his early mixtape days to explain how the record came about. Turns out that Lanez was recording music of that wave for quite some time, but it took him some time to perfect it. Due to sampling issues, he was unable to use a sample of Wayne Wonder’s “No Letting Go,” but “Luv” was the outcome of the entire situation; just timing is all this comes down to.
