RESPECT. Premiere: Kyle Rapps – “Michigan” (prod. by Belief)

The track is no doubt rooted in rap, but it also bounces with an electro strut. Part of the credit for that goes to producer Belief, who uses thick bass and driving percussion to fuel Rapps’ cadence. He captures the equally moody and clubby vibe of the instrumental, all while delivering bars that touch on the narrator’s struggle to remain faithful to his partner.

Despite wanting to stick around and be committed, dude constantly sneaks out and sows his oats with anyone who will give him the time of day. And yet, he always returns home to an understandably cold shoulder.
