It is sad news that we learn that Attrell Cordes, Prince Be of P.M. Dawn, has died at the age of 46. The R&B singer had died in a New Jersey hospital after battling kidney disease and diabetes. Representatives have confirmed his death, along with posts being made by family and group members on official Twitter and Facebook social media accounts.
The group’s official Facebook posted this emotional message on June 17 that read:
“Prince Be Rest In Peace Forever More,
Pain from diabetes can’t harm you anymore,
My Heart is at Peace B-Cuz U suffered so long,
Tell Grandma I said Hi & Stay Blisstatic & Strong.

The band had been formed by Cordes and his brother Jarrett in the late 80s, and had peaked their popularity in the 90s. One of their best known songs is “Set Adrift on Memory Bliss” that was released in 1991 that hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, with “I’d Die Without You” (from the soundtrack of Boomerang which starred Eddie Murphy) hitting No. 3 in 1992, and “Looking Through Patient Eyes” also reaching No. 6 in 1993.
He is survived by his wife Mary, and his children Christian, Mia, and Brandon. Mary wrote on her Twitter in response to the outpouring of condolences that “The love is felt & appreciated. My husband was amazing &Incredibly loving father. He deserved more He loved you all.”
