After the devastating Orlando shooting which took place late Saturday night , Donald Trump went to Twitter to post this very tasteless tweet for which he received a large amount of backlash on Twitter:
Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism, I don't want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance. We must be smart!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 12, 2016
He then follows this comment, not with messages of condolences for the grieving families, but with tweets that show more of a report of events and using this horrible crime as a ploy to tear down his other candidates.
Reporting that Orlando killer shouted "Allah hu Akbar!" as he slaughtered clubgoers. 2nd man arrested in LA with rifles near Gay parade.

I have been hitting Obama and Crooked Hillary hard on not using the term Radical Islamic Terror. Hillary just broke-said she would now use!

Many notable people responded to Trump’s tweet showing their distaste for the tactless and unsympathetic remarks.
Trump is truly an awful person. https://t.co/vQp3CQ9Nmv

Is this the grossest tweet in Twitter history? Yes. I think it is. https://t.co/G8W6UlMyM0

You are disgusting, @realDonaldTrump. Surely your supporters deserve more than your heartless idiocy. https://t.co/3fwOngA7D7

In a stark contrast to Trump’s comments regarding the event, President Obama delivered more heartfelt words during his statement offering prayers to the victims and their families. He brought words of unity saying, “But it’s a reminder that regardless of race, religion, faith or sexual orientation, we’re all Americans, and we need to be looking after each other and protecting each other at all times in the face of this kind of terrible act.”
While Trump may have garnered mostly backlash from the comment, he seems to still have support from a very certain Stacey Dash who went on Twitter to say:
My heart and prayers are with the LBGT community. This atrocity would not go unanswered under President Trump I promise!! #PrayingForOrlando
